Fathers Day meant more to us this year than any other! It’s our first with the Princess here and Daddy’s first time celebrating with her outside my belly. I wanted his gift from us to be lasting and meaningful and what better way to show him than capturing moments on camera for him to look at for many years to come. As you know, I LOVE pictures and I mean who doesn’t?! It’s a way to look back on old times and reminisce how you felt and what you went through.
So, first thing I did was go to our local craft store and buy some letters that were on sale. You can do this with so many other options. I was going to use a chalk board and just write it out but I found these letters first. So many fun alternatives you can use.
The most important thing is finding a place and someone to take the pictures for you. You can really take them with anything. It doesn’t need to be a fancy camera, you can even use your phone. Just make sure the babies are happy and ask a close friend to snap a couple pictures for you. I am thankful one of my best friends was able to help me capture these moments and make her smile. I made sure we did it in an area the Princess would love and what walking toddler doesn’t love a good splash pad in this Vegas heat!
I was so happy with all the pictures. It was hard for me to pick which ones I wanted to use but we narrowed it down to these. Daddy was thrilled when he received them and LOVED the pictures. He really appreciated the time and effort that went into them. I then took the pictures to our local print shop and had a canvas and frames made for his desk at the office. Super simple and inexpensive but will mean more to them than you will ever know!
My advice to any mom trying to find cute mommy and me outfits you can actually wear without costing an arm and leg. Find a dress that fits you perfect, then buy a matching shirt or the same dress. Take them to a local seamstress and have her make a mini one. My girl Ann is amazing! Most of our mommy and me matching sets are by her.
What did you do for your first Father’s Day gifts? or what other cool DIY have you done with your babies? I love hearing different and creative ideas. I hope you enjoyed reading as much as I enjoy to share!
