So I wanted to share with you our new favorite healthy desert. I am not a fan of giving the Princess any sweets or candy for that matter.(Won’t be for a while). I read studies that show that it weakens their immune system when given excess sugar at such a young age. Their bodies and guts are so pure right now, so I am going to keep hers as healthy as I can for as long as I can. So when I came across this at a local health food market I had to make it myself. Of course with a baby twist to it. (9 months+)
Avocado is already a favorite with us so I knew she would like it. You wouldn’t even guess the ingredients were as healthy as they are unless you are the one making it. Trust me on this one, it’s amazing even if it sounds a little weird! No one that’s tried it yet has come close to guessing the creamy ingredients. Even if you are not a fan of some of these ingredients, I promise you will barely notice them.
Of course you’ll be getting buckets of goodness from each desert cup or squeeze container. If you haven’t already seen my last blog about what I used to store her food for 6+ months check it out HERE. So there are lots of fantastic plant protein from the almond butter, wonderfully anti-inflammatory fats and vitamins from the avocado, tons of heart healthy potassium from the banana, toxin preventing anti-oxidants from the super food cacao, and all-important fiber from the dates. So you can eat as much dessert as you like knowing you’re only eating spoonful after spoonful of goodness. A totally guilt-free pudding! How great is that?
Serves 4 (And some for baby to save)
– 2 really ripe bananas
– 1 ripe avocado
– 6 medjool dates
– 4 tablespoons of water
– 2 heaped teaspoons of almond butter
– 2 heaped teaspoons of raw cacao powder
-Raw Probiotic (For babies healthy gut)
– a little sweetener (I like maple syrup)
– a teaspoon of hemp protein powder
– a sprinkling of chia seeds
– a sprinkling of flax seeds
Simply put all the ingredients into a food processor – pit the dates first though – then blend into a smooth delicious mixture.
A blender will work for this but a food processor is a lot easier and quicker!
Keep chilled in the fridge until you’re ready to enjoy!
What are some yummy healthy desert options you have come across for you and baby? Were they actually good? I would love to know…
Thank you for reading and look forward to hearing how much you loved it!
